Villa Marianna, lovingly named after the owner’s mother, was an old trullo and barn complex that has been beautifully restored to create a villa that offers two exceptional examples of Pugliese architecture. In one part of the villa guests can enjoy the cool, cosy living of a traditional trullo. Adjacent to the trullo building is the newly restored ‘lamia’ a modern and luxurious mini-apartment from which guests can enjoy cooking and dining under the pergola overlooking the pool and endless country views.
The trullo offers kitchen diner and a snug living room, three bedrooms and a bed alcove enabling 8 people to sleep comfortably in this part of the villa. The trullo overlooks the beautiful garden and relaxing external lounge space.
The lamia has a large double bedroom with double bed, a modern bathroom and spacious kitchen diner with sofa and TV. The bedroom also overlooks the gardens, however is accessed via the kitchen which overlooks the pool and barbeque areas.
The Villa is located just a short drive from the popular town of Cisternino, a favourite for trendy bars or long lazy lunches. We urge guests to stop off at Bar Vignola (aka History Bar) and enjoy a morning coffee or early evening aperitivo while enjoying the breathtaking views over the Valle D’Itria. Similarly the property is well located for guests to enjoy the sights of all the famous Itria Valley towns, such as Ostuni, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Alberobello, while being just 20 minutes from the beaches of the adriatic sea.
Guests will drive through the typical local farmlands and residential country areas to reach Villa Marianna. The villa is not isolated, it is part of a tiny agricultural complex of homes, some still inhabited. The trullo backs onto some friendly neighbours however the villa complex and garden itself enjoy total privacy.
Through a secure electric gate guests can park their cars in the ample shade of the parking pergola before admiring the central gardens that divide the trullo and lamia. Past the trullo and located in total privacy and tranquillity is the small but perfectly functional pool, allowing guests to cool off when the Pugliese sun gets a little too overpowering.
The Valle D’Itria and surrounding areas are easy to navigate however you will require a hire car to get about. The property is located almost equidistant (approx. 60 minutes) between Bari International airport and Brindisi airport. You can fly to one or the other using British Airways, Alitalia, Ryanair and EasyJet among other airlines although they may only fly during peak season.
